Works continue at Huggate

St Mary’s church is a building with exceptional significance, with many parts of the building dating back to the 12th century.

The Church has been at the heart of the community of Huggate for over 800 years.

Thanks to a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant St Mary’s was able to undertaken repair and renovation works to allow the Church to remain a central role in the community.

The first phase of the works included the removal of the Victorian pews and unsafe flooring, replacing with new insulated limestone floor, with the installation of new heating and lighting as well as accessible toilets and servery facility to provide refreshments during events.

Works are due to complete in July 2024.
