Works have commenced on the Grade II* listed Wesley Centre, situated in the heart of Malton, North Yorkshire. Pinnacle started on site in November as the Main Contractor, carrying out the internal strip-out works and fit-out to create an up-to-date community hub and concert Hall. These images show the artistic design of how the internal space will look when our works are complete.
Originally built in 1811, designed by Methodist minister and architect William Jenkins. It is one of 13 large ‘preaching chapels’ built by Jenkins for Methodist founder John Wesley. Just five survive today, and this Malton building is the oldest.
Construction works will include the installation of new underfloor heating, electrics, a glazed entrance foyer, a new stage area, a state-of-the-art AV and lighting system, and a new air handling unit with ducting and air vents created within the existing ceiling and complete re-decoration throughout.
Conservation works will include the refurbishment of 4no original pews, removing the existing stained-glass windows (8no in total), carrying out a repair to the timber, led and glazed panels and refurbishing the existing panelling throughout the building.
