Works are now complete on the facade works to York House, Malton.
The team undertook initial Doff cleaning, removing any loose flaking coatings by hand. Once complete lime wash coverings were undertaken.
Unlike commercial limewashes, Pinnacle produced a traditional limewash, which was not made from commercial lime putty and applied this in several watery coats but made for dry-slake lime and applied whilst still hot from the slake in 3 thicker coats.
Recent research shows that hot limewash makes a firmer bond to the substrate and is significantly more durable than limewash made from lime putty. Our limewash was applied with pure air-lime, dry-slaked, and with the addition of earth pigment only: the rigorous method of measuring and application allows us to achieve a consistent appearance across the whole building.
